Posted by beyondX on July 14, 2008 - 4:02pm in

Thursday Was Cloudy is an indie rock band making original music from Ronkonkama. The band originated in October of 2003, and released their self-titled debut in August of 2007. The band consists of three people: Phil (guitar/vocals/drums), Dave (guitar/vocals), and Tim (bass). Since the band's creation in 2003, they've "changed members more than Destiny's Child", as their Myspace page puts it. They're currently auditioning for a live drummer.

My husband and I recently watched The Ex with Zach Braff and Jason Bateman and Amanda Peet. It was really funny. Tom (Braff) and his prego wife Sofia (Peet) are a young couple living in the city. Both are unhappy with their lives and after Tom loses his job as a line cook, they move out west to Sofia's home town so Tom can get a job with her dad at his ad agency. In comes Chip (Bateman). Chip turns out to be an old "friend" of Sofia's. Holding back laughter from this point on is not possible. His dry sense of humor is perfect for the part.

Roadkill

Since I first turned the ignition, I've shown exceptional promise as a driver with an almost preternatural way with the wheel. Now I'm 23, almost 24, and I've been a safe driver for nearly seven years. I've never been in an accident (knock on wood), never got a ticket (knock on wood) and, until two days ago, I'd never hit an animal.

Local Band Review: Moronik

Posted by beyondX on August 7, 2007 - 3:40pm in

Moronik came into existence six years ago to pump out some great local alternative rock music. Since then, they've created at least one full-length CD and two demos. Formerly known as End the After, the band consists of Peter J. Scoma (guitar/vocals), Jordan Vandina (guitar), Alex Andujar (bass), and Nick Graziano (drums). The band has lost a guiarist since their creation and gained a new one, but still continues to create unique, catchy music that gives local competition a run for its money.

Sicko; Movie Review

Posted by beyondX on July 30, 2007 - 2:04pm in

Michael Moore is known very well for his knack in shedding the light on politicians and their hypocrisy. His latest film, Sicko, is one to be noted for not only its entertainment and sense of humor, but for the large, swollen finger it points at the United States health care system.
