Local Band Review: Thursday Was Cloudy

Posted by beyondX on July 14, 2008 - 4:02pm in

Thursday Was Cloudy is an indie rock band making original music from Ronkonkama. The band originated in October of 2003, and released their self-titled debut in August of 2007. The band consists of three people: Phil (guitar/vocals/drums), Dave (guitar/vocals), and Tim (bass). Since the band's creation in 2003, they've "changed members more than Destiny's Child", as their Myspace page puts it. They're currently auditioning for a live drummer.

For all you Dispatch lovers, here comes State Radio. Started by Chad Urmston (Dispatch) it's a lot more rocky than Dispatch was, but it's pretty great.

If you loved the band Dispatch, you don't have to sit home and play 4-Day Trials over and over. There is another alternative. The multi-talented Brad Corigan "Braddigan" has his own band and he's amazing. Here is just an example of a drum circle. He's so talented. Check out his band, Braddigan and Chad Urmston started a great band called State Radio.

My husband and I recently watched The Ex with Zach Braff and Jason Bateman and Amanda Peet. It was really funny. Tom (Braff) and his prego wife Sofia (Peet) are a young couple living in the city. Both are unhappy with their lives and after Tom loses his job as a line cook, they move out west to Sofia's home town so Tom can get a job with her dad at his ad agency. In comes Chip (Bateman). Chip turns out to be an old "friend" of Sofia's. Holding back laughter from this point on is not possible. His dry sense of humor is perfect for the part.

Went to see DMB at SPAC 6/21. It was absolutely amazing! And even being almost 30, we held our own among the teeny boppers. Good times!!!
